Laura Pharis is from Roanoke, Virginia, and holds a diploma in Special Advanced Studies from Central St. Martin's in London. She earned a BFA from VCU and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She teaches art at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, Virginia.
